A New Marketer’s Journey into POS Tech: Lessons from RetailNOW 2025
When I joined Touch Dynamic earlier this year, I was stepping into two new worlds at once: the workplace and the POS technology industry. So, when my company gave me the opportunity to attend one of the largest tradeshows in my industry hosted by Retail Solutions Providers Association (RSPA), it was an instant “yes”. I knew it would be a key opportunity to accelerate my learning and growth.
I felt a surge of excitement, followed by nerves. It would be my first tradeshow ever. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I knew this was a unique opportunity. RSPA RetailNOW is a big deal for those in the POS space, and Touch Dynamic has a long-standing presence there.
Walking Into the World of POS Tech
From the moment I walked onto the show floor, I was struck by the scale and energy of it all. The room buzzed with conversation. Booths stretched from wall to wall with products, next-level set-ups, software, and hardware demo stations, and branded merchandise.
One of the most eye-opening aspects of the experience was meeting the VARs, distributors, and software vendors we work with, as well as potential new customers. Generating quality leads through face-to-face interactions highlighted the vital importance of personal connections in this industry. I quickly realized how collaborative this space is across organizations. It’s not just about the tech you sell, but the relationships you build and maintain over time. Every conversation felt like a chance to learn something new about how businesses connect and grow together in this industry.
Learning Through Conversation
As someone working on the hardware side of POS, sitting in on software demos from Touch Dynamic’s software partners was invaluable. And being able to connect face-to-face was even more so.
After a day spent connecting with others at the booth, one of our valued team members from Touch Dynamic, Whitney Gerrety, Distribution Channel Account Manager, participated in a panel discussion titled “The Room Wasn’t Built for Me, So I Pulled Up a Chair Anyway.” Hearing Whitney speak was incredibly motivating. Her words were a reminder that innovation isn’t just about the product. It’s about creating space for new voices, ideas, and perspectives.

Celebrating Industry Excellence
One of the most captivating moments of the event was the Vendor Awards of Excellence (VAE) ceremony. RSPA announced that Touch Dynamic won the Gold Vendor Award of Excellence in the hardware category for the 11th consecutive year. This award was especially meaningful, as it is voted on by resellers, meaning it reflects genuine trust, satisfaction, and performance.
This year’s victory was shared with our esteemed partner, Epson America Inc., which also won the Gold Award in the Hardware Manufacturer category. We’re excited to celebrate this achievement together and are honored to stand beside a fellow industry leader who shares our dedication to quality, collaboration, and excellence.
Not only was it exciting that my company won this prestigious award, but it also gave me a deeper understanding of how much relationships and reliability matter in this space. It’s not just about who makes the best product, but who shows up and delivers consistently.

New to the Industry? You’re Not Alone
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to represent Touch Dynamic at RetailNOW 2025. Attending this show as a new marketer was both educational and energizing.
If you’re new to the industry or attending your first tradeshow, know that there’s room for you. Stay curious, stay engaged, and don’t hesitate to ask questions. The connections you make and the conversations you have can be the starting point for real growth.
